First off I want to thank everyone who took advantage of the recent sale I had, I was able to book a few weddings and other sessions because of you I was able to make the rest of the money needed for this past weekend’s workshop with Jeffree Star and Lipstick Nick in Chicago.
Saturday morning started off well with waking up before my alarm at 7:30 am, I was too excited to return to bed but still managed to lay there snuggling with my cat Norris (yes he is wearing a shirt) and my husband.

After getting out of bed I started with a shower where I washed my face with First Aid Beauty’s Face Cleanser, after my shower I arranged my outfit which had taken me days to figure out if this was the right one to wear for meeting a few of my idols. The outfit I chose was my favorite Forever 21 Galaxy dress (which was a great hit at the workshop), I then moisturized my face with First Aid Beauty’s Daily Face Cream. (You can read a review on First Aid Beauty Products here) After allowing my moisturizer time to soak into my skin I started applying my makeup.
For my look I used my Belletto Studios Airbrush System, Urban Decay’s Vice 2 Palette, Lorac’s After Glo Palette, Eylure Lashes, NYX Milk Pencil (depotted) as a primer, and my Great Lash by Maybelline. I used some of my Real Techniques brushes along with my new Vera Mona Solo Color Switch (Purchase it here) for this look. I kept the galaxy theme going with my makeup as well.
I arrived in Chicago about 30 min early but was delayed because I did not know a pride parade was going on the same street as Make Up First School of Makeup Artistry which was who hosted the workshop, I decided to just park at the nearest parking garage and walk to the school.
As I was walking to the school I was looking at my phone to make sure I was going the right way, I turned onto LaSalle St and looked up. I had to do a double take because walking right towards me was my idol Jeffree Star with Lipstick Nick not far behind! Sadly being a little overwhelmed I waved like a dork lol, Jeffree was on a mission but Lipstick Nick stopped and directed me where to go. I was frozen but said thank you, then went into the venue. Upon arrival I met a few of the other students waiting for the class, some local but others that had traveled like myself – someone was even from PA! After waiting a bit they allowed us to come in and get seated. They were nice enough to provide snacks and Mimosas!

Both Jeffree and Nick had their stations set up for demonstration, so much makeup in one area (and I thought I had a large kit :P). It was finally time for the beautifying to take place! They opened up with their makeup journey and how their passion has lead them to where they are today, it was awesome to hear that they started young with a love for beauty. Although I wasn’t young myself when I found my passion I so understand where they are coming from, Jeffree and Nick have been doing makeup for years. Jeffree gave his demonstration, named products, and even suggested products to try. The most exciting part was seeing him use his lipstick line which will be out later this year.
Lipstick Nick gave her demonstration next, she used a student from our class as a model. Lipstick Nick went into detail about eyebrows and how to get them a proper shape using Anastasia Beverly Hills Pro Brow palette that I have been really wanting! The look she did was fun with yellow shadow and colors that complimented the model’s hair and skin tone. Nick also listed products and suggested items to try. She custom made the model’s foundation from a cream palette that she had, she also went over contouring and highlighting. The workshop had so much information that I ended up taking three pages of notes!
The class setting was wonderful, it was open and felt very comfortable – I was able to ask questions about the industry and products even with feeling a little starstruck. If Jeffree Star and Lipstick Nick have another beauty tour I’m so going again! Afterwards, there were photo opportunities and we even got a gift bag with some awesome goodies!! This was a chance of a lifetime and thank you to everyone that helped make this possible for me to attend!
